Default Piston to valve clearance

I have a 2006 stock 6.0 engine that came off a escalade that i will start messing with soon...I would like to know whats the max cam lift i can use if i run some 243 heads milled down to 30 thousands...

What are your plans for the truck? strip, DD, weekend play toy? What transmission are you running? The biggest cam you can stick in there will suck with-out the right converter.

I would get a dial indicator and find out first hand... PTV clerance isnt something you want to leave to chance...

+1, and you really need to look at all of the cam specs, not just the lift...

Yep...closest piston to valve occurrence is usually about 10-15 degrees ATDC when the cam (and valve) is far below max lift.

its going to be just a weekend toy. i will be running a built 4l60e...

I have not pick out a cam yet because iam getting my 243s ported at a local shop...i want to know the flow numbers on them first and then from their iam going to get a custom cam an then a matching stall for my combo

Like said b4 PTV does not happen at max lift you must look at LSA and ICL as well
