Default N-Motion Timing chain any good?

Was looking into the heavy duty timing sets and found this one from Scoggin Dicky... Anyone run this set, I like that it comes with billet gears and Torrington bearings at a fair price..... What you guys think?

Check it out:

We have used and sold a ton of those in the past. It should work pretty well, as we had very few issues with them.

I had purchased the Melling 10296 oil pump along with a Dual Chain only to find they didn't fit. After much fabricating I was still far off... so a single chain will have to do the job. Going to try this combo out!

Unfortunately, there are no double rollers that will fit with the melling pumps without some kind of grinding (that we know of anyway). We offer our ported and shimmed LS6 pumps that will fit with most aftermarket sets.

Yeah I truly wish I had looked into this before buying, but that's the way it goes sometimes... And I'm a little wiser! I grinded a lot out of my front cover, but the real problem area for me at least was where the front seal and the pump face meet. Can barely grind anything off the cover area in that spot or you run into the mating surface of the seal, and I would fear ruining the pump face since that's the only other thing left to shave off. The single chain is plenty strong and certainly goes to show less is more!

Just put the chain and sprockets on and there is quite a bit of slack, which seems to be normal? Is a Damper necessary or good insurance in a mild performance build?

Was searching around about dampers and since my engine block doesn't have the provisions or holes for a damper I found this from TEA.... Anyone use one of theses brackets before or know much about them?

TIMING COMPONENTS | :: Total Engine Airflow ::

Seems nice since there isn't a need for drilling....

Although it may seem like it has quite a bit of slack, most of the time this perfectly normal. How much are you able to move the chain?

Just remember that the damper is designed to keep the chain from slapping around as much as what it would otherwise do without a damper and as such is intended to extend the life of the chain. It is not however designed to take the slack out of the chain as a tensioner would do. Unfortunately the factory GM tensioner does not have the best track record and is to commonly found to be in pieces in the oil pan.
