Unfortunately the factory GM tensioner does not have the best track record and is to commonly found to be in pieces in the oil pan.
The dampner breaking does happen every now and then, I dont see alot of report here on the forums about it, but we do get some calls about it.

Went ahead and ordered the kit from TEA adapter/damper combo. Stayed away from the tensioner too many bad reports on those! Since the chain had some travel damper makes me feel a lot better about chain breakage due to harmonics or high rev. Will post up some pics of the setup since I haven't seen many with the damper/adapter combo as of yet. Crossing fingers I hate clearance issues! Thanks for all the replies!

From my experience I'd say the N-Motion sets are just another re-branded JP Performance set. They use rolon chains which are almost as good as IWIS, but much cheaper. I have a JP performance set in my DD and it is just fine.

I use a rollermaster double chain with a HO melling pump and didnt have to do any clearancing on the front cover...

Also use one of the block-style dampeners without issues. I have heard of the spring-loaded dampeners having issues though...
