LS6 With 215cc Trick Flow Heads. What Cam ?
#1
I have a forged LS6 with 215cc Trick flow heads. Stock crank with 6.122 Eagle H-beam rods and Diamond -2cc flat top pistons (stock bore) Comp lifters (350-16) Comp chromolly 7.450 push rods Brian Tooley 660 lift springs. Harlan Sharp 1.7 RR Fast 92mm intake and throttle body. Slp under drive crank pulley. High vol, oil pump, dual timing chain. This is going into my 2000 Chevy Silverado Ext cab. Built 4L60E trans, 3600 Circle D 245mm stall and Eaton TT locker with AAM 411 gears. I have a couple of cams from other builds Both are Comp Cams 224-230 dur. 581-588 lift 112+2 And the other is a A&A Blower cam that I know is not going to work. Its a street/strip/ truck that will be my dailey. I only drive 5 miles a day. Lol. Just want to get some insight from yall. Thank you. Mike

Being the cubes aren't huge with excellent heads I am going to be a tiny bit conservative, but I will give you 3 options.
That 224/230 cam you have or something similar would actually work nicely if you want something somewhat mild.
Custom and a moderate option would be LSL lobes with 227/231
Fairly wild and off the shelf the torquer V2 from Texas speed would work pretty well.

That's a really nice motor! I say go more wild since you have large flowing intake runners from intake and heads. I would check out ls forms and see what cam people are running in their camaros with your set up and maybe go slightly smaller due to the weight of and ext cab.

Do you have a target max RPM in mind?
I like something close to Gamble's second suggestion. I may go with a softer LXL 230 exhaust lobe and do it on a 112+2. Power should pour on plenty early for that 3600 stall and hold out for about a 6500 shift point, or more if you were feeling aggressive at the track

Thanks for the comments. I'm still up in the air on which cam to run. I've contacted Lunati, and Inski and both were pretty close on the specs.(227/227 600/600 112+2 degrees of timing. I installed the other used cam that I mentioned 224/230 581/588 114+2 to verify that the cam that I installed was too damn big. way too much duration 239/242 I'm trying to get the right cam that's best suited for my motor in a 5k lb truck
