Default LS2 timing chain discussion

Ok I should know this but, the ls2 timing chain, (from what i gathered from a search, yes i did a search. ) part number 12586482 can be easily switched out in place of the stock timing chain while reusing the stock sprockets? I just want to make sure that this info is correct before i go ***** first into my camswap....again. With 96k miles on the clock, do you think its worth it to go through the trouble to change the timing chain out? As always, opinions and comments are entertained. Thanks for reading!

i had run the ls2 timing chain before and know other ppl with same setup. as long as your stock sprockets are low in miles or dont have much wear to them then yes only buy the chain

with that many miles on the ticker I'd go ahead and get the set (sprockets and chain) qand swap them all out. I've got just over 90K on mine and to ensure you have a tight valvetrain its worth it IMO.

Money is an issue. I want to still have enough money by the end of the summer to buy my nitrous system. I also owe my parents auto insurance in June.

Here is a pic comparing the two.. The stock timing chane on the left and the LS2 timing chane on the right..You can see the LS2 timing chane is a little thicker..

Very cool Speedy! Thanks. Is there that much wear on the sprockets or should i just buy the chain and be done with it?
