Default Ls 327

Has anyone ever tried to fit or thought about fitting a 4.8 crank into a 6.0 block to build a 327?

I just love the sound of 327. The bore stroke ratio is really very good for power and effiency. Plus you could get a little more RPM out of a stock crank due to piston speed.

I know bigger engines produce more torque at any given rpm which is easier on the motor, but I am just wondering if this could be done with out special pistions. Maybe I could use stock 6.0 pistons and shorter rods to compensate for pin height.

It will not sound like a old school chevy.. Different firing order.. small block gen1 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.. Lsx order 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3..

it would require custom pistons and rods

in theory you could use the stock 4.8 rods and then need custom pistons, but to build it to rev high and be durable, yeah off the shelf pistons and rods ain't gonna do it.

Random hero. I have never heard one or read about anybody doing this idea, but a 4.8 crank is barely a touch longer then the 3.25" a traditional 327 has. Combine that with a 6.0 block, and if pistons are cheaply enough available you in therory have a 329. Although I prefer 327.

Mangled GMC.

I have heard 6.0's in muscle cars with out all the BS they have, and a carb. I after listening to it for quite awhile could not tell it was not a healthy 350. You'll have by far a greater exhaust tone from mufllers then a 4-7 and 2-3 firing order swap.

Loud exhaust makes everything sound bad. Including a guy at works 4.3.

So, you want to spend a bunch of money trying to get a 327? You theory two posts up says you will get a 329, which is two CI's larger than 327, when you could just use a 5.3, which is two less? WTF

A 5.3 is a 325 cubic inch engine.
