Basically. There's no reason to do it. your going to be 2 cubs over your way. 2 cubes under with a 5.3 and with the 329 you'll have less low end torque while both engines are made for mid-upper rpm power.
If your just wanting the sound then why not just play with different exhaust systems?

short answer, YES...it CAN be done and would be a relatively simple process (provided you have money to buy parts).
- 6Liter block
- 4.8Liter Crank
- forged rods (find a good length)
- custom forged pistons (generally the same cost as "off the shelf" pistons)
there.....no BS....
Now the question is WHY? Unless you have a specific reason to do so (high RPM endurance racing), you gave up CIs for nothing.....

I say start with a 5.3L and then grab a router or dremel and remove .25ci from each piston (don't have to dish it, just some holes will do) and there's your 2ci to get 327 (325 + 2 = 327).

I might be wrong on this but I think the pin height on a 4.8L is the same as the 6.0L, 5.7, and 5.3. I think the 4.8L uses a longer rod to compinsate insted of a lower pin height. So if this is correct you could use 4.8L rods, 4.8L crank, and flat 6.0L pistons. You would want to run ported 5.3L heads, or cut down 243's to get the CR up. But like everyone else asks why??? The only reason I would even consider such a thing is if I was racing in a class with a 327CI maximun and wanted a 4'' bore.
An easy way to get 327CI's would be a 5.3L honed .005'' over bore with custom pistons.

tearing a motor down to hone it .005 would be the biggest waste of deniro, but thats just me, if you went back with stock compression pistons, you would never feel the extra cubes, and also, nobody would believe you did it for 2 cubes, lol, not downing you stock48, or anybody else

My basic reason for the idea is that the 327's 3" stroke allows it to rev very nicely and the 4" bore allows for some deep breathing. I have always been a fan of reving over sheer torque. It goes against everything I tell people to do to heavy vehicles or things that will tow, but the sound of a healthy motor spining 2500rpm is music.
So if it is possable "economicaly" I will go hipocritic and build my waste of money 327 with deep gears to get the barge off the line. Plus it probily only spin 2500rpm going down the freeway with 4.33 gears. Which ironically enough is what I roughly spin now when I accidently leave my truck in D instead of going to OD.
If somehow enough money will not fix said problem I will go get a 408 stroker, and 3.73 gears. Maybe even just do a overbored 6.2 if they get cheap enough, but currently 408 are pretty damn cheap.
I drive alot for work and play so I figure I will have to rebuild the truck once atleast.
