lifter retainers

You can re-use them if there in good shape but there so cheap why not change them... for the LS1 style I think I got all 4 for less then $20 From SDPC. One of our sponsers
They are different for different motors.
#12551162 -Lifter Guide, LS1/LS6 4.8,5.3,6.0 truck engines
#12595365 -Lifter Guide, LS2/LS7
#12571596 -L92 Front Lifter Guide
#12571608 -L92 Rear Lifter Guide
I believe the L92 is also the LS3 style but not 100% on that. Maybe some one else can Clear that up
I do know you can use the LS2 style in th LS1 style engine but not the other way around. The LS2 style is supposedly stronger....

i always reuse them... i would upgrade to TI retainers if you are planning on revving to 6500+ though.
i run a dual spring with TI hats now
edit, just re-read the title. LIFTER retainers. i am a moron. the end.
i re-use those too though. did a h/c/lifter swap a few weeks ago and just went back with the same ones.

You probably don't need to change them, but for the price it's silly not to. If you're not swapping the heads or removing them to get milled, you don't need to change the lifters at all though, unless of course you're having a problem with the lifters.
