Question how much lift untill reliefs are necessary?

Like it says... It looks like Im about to get a cam for the 6.0 with some where in the neighborhood of .635 lift (iirc). Guy said he had valve reliefs and told me I may need to. Its going in an LQ4 with 241's. Thanks for any input guys

You better have the heads flowed, worked for a cam that big, other wise, you aren't really going to gain that much from it

listen to this man, that cam will be a dog with stock heads, port them and that engine will be a beast. if you're tight on cash but mechanically inclined then check out this.

a good set of ported 241's will be just fine, the cam he's running will need ported heads no matter what casting.

just read over the thread... Im not too sure on my abilities to port my own heads, Im too affraid to foobar it. So I understand that the 243s had a different casting procedure making it a smoother combustion chamber. Is that why the 241s are usually not a 1st choice?

243's have a double quench area in it, hence it being the head that can take more timing and produce better power.

got ya. I guess my goals were wrong then. I was only looking for more compression. So even with my 221/221 should I need to port the heads or would it be ok how it is?
