Update. Motor will be done on monday. The clevite main bearing didnt come in on time so... But on a side note got the new cam ordered. Comp Cams
224/230 581/588 114lsaXER. Do you guys think 918s will be ok for this cam. I know the max lift is 600. Now all i have to do is get my 243 heads ordered from patriot and get a set of head studs. Does anyone know what head studs i need. There are so many different part numbers for them.

The 918's will be just fine.

The head studs you need depend on what year your block is.

Im not positive on the year. Is there a way to tell looking at the stock head bolts. Also do the stud kits come with the top bolts for the heads by the intake?

yes, you can tell by looking at the bolts.
97-03 LS- based blocks = staggered length bolts
ARP 234-4110

2004-up LS- based blocks = all the same length bolts
ARP 234-4317

The kit comes with all the necessary studs to fasten the cylinder heads to the block.

Okay. But looking at the bolts all of the bolts that in the center of the heads are the same. The bolts that are buy the exhaust side of the heads are shorter. What about the bolts by the intake on the heads?

You need the 97-03 studs then.

Yes, they will come with the studs to replace the bolts by the intake, its a complete set of head studs.

I understand, I want you to get the right stuff as well!

Note: when using studs if you ever have to remove the heads you will have to pull the engine!

I have seen ARP bolts hold over 700 RWHP, just something to think about if you dont plan on making big power.
