I just finished a few blocks recently, one was a 370 at 10 to 1 compression and the other was a 427 at 9 to 1 compression. I used Mahle Pistons and Eagle Rods in my 370 and Mahle Pistons with Scat Rods and Crank in the 427. If you are going to run it on street gas and want the most timing with the 317 heads then go for a compression between 10 to 1 - 9 to 1.

Richard at WCCH can help you out with the heads, great product and support.

I can also recommend a great cam grind that I am using in my 370.

You can easily do a 122HH Truck Style or I can also have a front inlet rear drive 122HH built for you. The good thing about the front inlet rear drive is that you can overdrive the rear.

Give me a call if you have any questions. Joe (760) 522-8669

I used Probe Rods and Pistons, Ackerly & Childs rings. Bought them from Richard over at WCCH. Rex spec'd out my ring pack.

talk to Slowhawk and Richard & rex @ WCCH...talki to as many people as u can. If possible buy a combo thats already worked and had the bugs ironed out. Don't do what I did and be a test bed for parts.
Pistons: I have Diamond, but wuda preferred something with a longer skirt and w/o rings @ wristpins;
Rods: I used Eagle...in fact u can get a great rods/pistons/crank 408 package if u go NA;
cam: no shortage of options, but can't pick until u decide all the rest;
blower: 122HH - Joe at Left Coast will hook u up
Heads: WCCH...but there are plenty of options.
Overall, don't overlook the turnkey builders. They will have been tested, combo efficient, and have a warranty! Ur best value will be to buy someone elses hard work - Trust me!

I would think it should be just fine the 370. Very similar to the cam I am going to run.
