Default Different heads questions

I'm getting ready to rebuild a 5.3 which I will be turboing and I would like to put heads on. The problem is I hear different numbers thrown around like 799, 315 and so on and I'm totally in the dark on what I should be looking for. If you guys could let me know what heads you would recommend and possibly shed some light on all the different heads and the numbers that are thrown around I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Thanks grey matter 04 that is really good info. If I read right the 243's are the zo6 heads and are good for all out power but the 317 and 035 are good if your going for boost.

just watch the combustion chamber size affects compression

317s wouldn't do u any good on a 5.3 cuz the chamber cc is way to big for it bring Ur cr 243s would be a good one even if u boost it and still would bring Ur cr down but not a lot

243s and run a thin gasket so you dont have to mill them to get back to stock compression or close to it
Keep that head surface thick so it holds plenty of boost

Heads are pretty much the last thing I'd worry about on a boosted engine. Look around here and see what guys are doing with stock heads and forced induction.

I would not run a thin head gasket on a boosted engine.

As far as factory castings, the 243s would be the best option for your setup as far as a N/A build. Although, I would mill them instead of running the thinner gasket for the compression bump.
