Talking considering this set up lq9,l92 heads, comp cam. can you help.

i have some parts laying around and want to put this together. for 2002 chevy. i do have a 4l80e in it now i think that it will handle the power. i have a low mileage 2004 6.0 lq9 out of a cadilac escalade. i also i have a set of l92 heads laying around. i have a new in box comp cam-54-000-11 specs are dur @50 231 on intake 236 on exhaust. the lift is 644 on the intake and 613 on exhaust. lobe seperation is 112.0. not a daily driver more of a week end toy and drive it back and forth to work 7 miles a day. on nice days. regular cab short bed 2wd truck. will this cam work with the heads? what converter? what gear ratio. i do have a set of pacesetter long tubes. i do have a late model 2008 l92 intake with stock injectors. and will prolly at a later date put a 100 shot of juice on it. any suggestions. thanks.

that cam will definitely need to have ptv clearance checked. risky in my opinion. i would say sell it and get you a cam on a 113 lsa for nos and with 8 degrees split duration since heads are stock unported. mill heads .030 to bump compression to near 11:1. at least 3600 stall and 4.10s.

Similar combo to mine. my cam is a comp also 227/235 .614/.621 on a 113 lsa. I'm hoping not to fly cut any pistons but if I do what is the minimum safe clearance to check for. Im having my head milled .030. and possibly runing a .040 if not a stock .051.

Whats makes is cam so different on a 112?

definitely check for PTV clearance with that cam

no need to mill .030 mill .015 with a .040 mill gasket to achieve 11:1 compression unless youre wanting a few points more

I did want a lil extra. But afraid to run into PTV problems. I may got .020 to be safe with the .040 gasket. But the more Im contemplating this swap. I dont want to be over 11:1 for a DD. Skeet you saved me again. I will mill only .015 and run a .040 gasket. I should have plenty PTV clearance and still be at 11:1 as well as get a good amount of timing into it.

I can always use a stock gasket. will also add to my PTV clearance if need be. But if I milled too much I would be stuck.

With my heads milled .040 with a 251/267 .623 cam with an ls9 gasket the valves where not even going into the valve reliefs, the exhaust valve had less clearance than the intake valve.

what compression do you run? the lq9s have flat top pistons. I get so many opinions about this topic its not funny.
