Nobody on here has ever tried AFAIK, but I'd like to know how feasable it is also.

I would think it could be done by a good machine shop. just make sure they dont mess up the sleeves.

I read somewhere on tech that the L33 has the same size aluminum casting as the 5.7L, but with thicker iron sleeves to bring it down to the 5.3L bore. I think it was in the conversions/hybrids section.

Cost wise it'd probably cost the same-or less to just buy an LS6 block and do it that way, huh?

if i remember right, all 4.8 / 5.3 blocks were designed by gm
To be punched out to a LS1 5.7 bore.
This included the aluminum 5.3 blocks too.

I know of a gentleman that works for GM, name withheld. He shared with me that the 5.3 iron can in fact be bored out to be a 5.7. The original design was an iron 5.7 to be used in the B-body platform (RWD Caprice) and the aluminum for the F & Y-body.

They then decided to kill off the B-body and make the iron block to a 5.3. They never redesigned the sleeves, which is why you can bore it out so much.

The 5.3 aluminum should be the same deal (take a pic of the block if you can), but I would imagine that it would be easier just to get an LS1 block.
