Default Cam install pricing in Houston

I have a 2015 5.3 silverado, just bought a stage 2 texas speed cam kit with afm/dod delete kit, springs, retainers, lifter trays the whole nine yards parts wise to do the install...any recommendations on shops in Houston with decent pricing to do this work?

There are several in the area, when I was researching it seems liked KHP was the popular choice. Not sure what their pricing is now though

KHP just quoted me 2550 for a full cam install, includes cam, rods, lifters, springs, and street tune. Seems a bit pricey to me.

I spoke to a shop in Temple that TSP recommended for installing a cam and they said something like 2500-3000 because they pull the engine out to do it. That was labor only, no parts.

I'm on the other coast and I have a GENIV. I got a quote of $3500 for afm/vvt/cam including parts and tune . Another shop said $2500-3000 turn-key.

Adding up the parts it should be around $1000. So another $1500-2k for labor and a tune seems like a lot. Especially for something that can be done without removing the engine or even unbolting the heads. Guess I'll have to find a weekend to do it myself.

Heads do have to come off for afm delete

And if you guys did the cam swap, dod delete etc yourself you'd understand why there's so much labor, and the charges.

Pulling the engine out or not, either way is a ton of work. From what I've seen it's usually about 2500 to do the job, pulling the engine or leaving it in. Can be 2000-2500 ish for labor alone.

As a reference point for you guys, alldata calls for 18.6 hours of labor to do a cam in one of these trucks. Most shops charge 100-150 an hour labor... so you can see how it's starting to add up. Then you have parts, gaskets, fluids, tuning. It all adds up.
