Default Building a motor,, Need Opinions!!

I have a 1983 Silverado Project truck i have started!!

The motor and Trans are coming out tommorow.

It has a 350 sbc... and a 700-r4...

We are going to put a weiand blower on it, and i want themotor to be able to hold around 20+ psi....

I was thinking an Eagle Rotating assembly...

But just wanted everyones opinoin before I purchase!!

Also Im not set on the weiand... If there is other producers with the same price range, I would be happy to look at those as well!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

I've been speaking to every engine builder in the country about trying to put 500rwhp in my Avv with less than stellar results. There is an article in this month's Popular Hot Rodder mag about blowers - types and install. They use a Hemi as their test bed, but they review the Weiand 2 & 3 lobe blowers. I think the key to ur project will be the heads. They will determine what blower ur gonna use by the amount of flow they need. I luv my Radix and they say it can handle up to 1000hp on EFI but don't know anyone who's done it. Even Lingenfelter who use lost of Magnussen products can't offer what I'm asking for. U need to also consider whether u want reliability 1st and performance second or vise-versa. Thats gonna definately make the decision for u as far as cam, stall, NOS...etc.

Eagle has quality products. You won't be able to push 20psi I don't believe with a serpentine style weiand blower. They just arn't big enough. Also a 112 Magnacharger Radix doesn't flow near enough to air to produce anything close to 1000hp.

For that kind of boost, why aren't you going turbo?

Ive got a buddy with that exact same setup in his 69 chevelle and it makes 500 to the ground. His cam is huge around .750 and 300 duration @ .050 I can hear him crank it thup even with all the doors closed it vibrates all the ****** walls. He is running high compression around 10.5:1, I would go with a dart head they have a great set of aluminum pro stock heads that flow 312 @ .800 for around 1000 each, triple springs 4k converter. Id be thinking about 5lbs on pump and 10+ on 115, he currently has belt wrap problems when trying to run a bigger pulley.
This guy knows his **** he used to have the only twin turbo carborated motor Ive ever heard of putting around 1500 to the ground, if you need more info Ill have him call you.

FYI: Ive heard you can use the stock 300z knock sensors on the older SBC motors

for one thing that 700r4 wont last no time... youll need to upgrade to a 400 turbo tranny, probably a built one at that

also check out banks engineering (diesel performance) they are now offering a twin turbo setup for the small block chevy one with about 800 hp ... with that kind of boost i would think it would be easier to go turbo instead of sc...
