Cam Motion has the best camshaft cores in the industry. They grind most BTR, Tick Performance and many other companies camshafts. Call Cam Motion or use the form on their site and let them spec out a custom grind for your application. Most of these different cam specs are so close, to be honest you're kinda splitting hairs and would never tell the difference in performance if you swapped most of them in. I recently swapped a 228/230 .585 .585 112* for a Cam Motion 222/232 .595 .587 108* . It ran and idled perfect on the old tune, bringing the power in just a bit sooner. There was hardly any change in drivability except for wide open throttle, the torque came in sooner and power fell off sooner... just as expected.

For sure it will give up a strong amount of mid and top end. In general I shy away from cams that don't share both advertised and 0.050" values unless they have dyno data with detailed engine configuration to back up the results (Texas Speed for example).
Here is the advertised duration for the cam.
Duration @ .006'' would be...

261/269

In the 2000-2500rpm range you might see about 5lbs-ft or so different (just a handful). You wouldn't even feel it. From 3000rpm up it'll quickly lose steam while the BTR will come on strong in comparison. I have nothing against Cammotion Cams (as a matter of fact, I love that they offer specific cams for different displacements, and they offer two core materials depending on how durable you want the lobes). But in this case the BTR pretty much runs the same down low while extending the torque curve significantly more.

You want the BTR Stage 1 truck cam. Check out Richard Holdener channel on YouTube. Or, just get Cam motion to grind you a cam with those specs. No extra charge and you will have it within a week.

Just a quick note to that Holdner's testing. His review of the BTR cams (tested on a 5.3L) I believe was prior to the release of the new version "V2" and has slightly different specs. The BTR V2 should perform even better across the power range.

tglandon,

That sounds like a nice tow rig. You should create your own thread for a cam recommendation so this thread doesn't get hi-jacked. The community will be sure to jump in on your thread.
