ls1(5.7),6.0 and 5.3 have the same crank and rods. You just need ls1 pistons.

Richard,

Just wondering... Do you guys to block work too or heads exclusively?

Sorry, we just handle cylinder heads. We do have a couple of shops in my area that handle the block work though. Let me know if you need any help and I'll see what we can do.

Reading this thread makes me want to ask a quick question. I have a 5.3 with a broke #7. In theory, I could:

Bore out to a 5.7
Use the stock crank
Add Katech or equivalent rod bolts
Forged rods/Forged dished pistons
Low C/R heads (say 9 to 1)
And boost the **** out of it
How much boost could it handle, say 20psi?

Would this setup be stronger than the 6L with 8-10psi that I am running now?
Sorry to hijack

5.7 and 5.3 use the same crank? If that is correct then why not bore it

This certainly can be done and for a reasonable price. All the iron blocks are tough as nails and can handle big engine loads. You'll want to look for a pair of 5.7l heads to swap out for the smaller chamber 5.3l heads. You get a larger intake valve and a larger chamber by using the 5.7l heads.

The 6.0l engine still has the 5.7l beat in the torque department, but the gap is a lot closer than comparing a 5.3l to a 6.0l. The key is to take advantage of the larger intake valve that the 5.7l and 6.0l heads offer.

Good luck,

Richard
