Another cam ?
#1
i have been looking around on here and reading ALOT... and i have talked to KBRacing about a turbo set up also... but if i decided to just stay NA and do a cam and lt's what would be a solide cam for a DD, my truck is an 05 Z71 ecsb 5.3, and its lifted on 37's with 4:88 gears, any input i would greatly appreaciate... trying ot have my truck finished by the time i get back from afghan in february. thanks

The 212/218 "lowlift" cam would be a great cam for what you lookin for you would gain power all over where as the 220 cam is more of a top end cam and would need a 3400+ torque converter for you to like it.

with that cam would you recommend a different torque converter? once i get all of this installed i would get a BB tune done, will this cam have a noticeable lope to it, and what type of gain could i get out of it?

Gains u will have to see what ur butt Dyno thinks lol. but it will be noticeable and as for the converter up to u. U don't have to... and loped get it on a 112 or 111 lsa if possible for the lope

typically the 212/218 is a comp grind cut on a 114 or 115 lsa and doesnt have a whole lot of "lope" in a 5.3 If you are looking for lope and a smaller duration cam that will work as a dd with the stock or a small aftermarket converter, i suggest you go with a custom grind. you could get the 212/218 cut on a 111 or 112 from TSP or contact geoff or patG for a custom spec cam that will work best with your application. I do reccomend however running a higher stalled torque converter no matter what cam you go with, even the stock cam can benefit from a small circle D or yank. For you, Id look somewhere around the specs of the 212/218 or tr220 depending on how much "stall" you are willing to go with. Also, when are you planning on the headers? stock heads?

ive never put a converter in besides a stock oem replacement, so for the amount of stall im really unsure of, i have read alot and alot people recommend a 3000! i planned on doing the headers and maybe heads if they dont brake the bank all at one time, that way i can get it tuned and go from there.
