Default 8.3L - Has anyone build one of these?

In all my searching I haven't fopund anyone who's built up or installed one of these motors as an afetrmarket. GM installs them on 2500's with the 4L80E I think? I met a guy this weekend who has a comapny 2500HD with one in it and it was a standard! Anyone have any info on this motor? Must be at least 450cu. Brian can the Radix handle this motor, and have u heard of an install? R/

YUP..ur right! U think the Mag works on it? I've been doing all this research for a new motor, and just dawned onmme that the 8.1 has all the cubes I need, and I cud build it up pretty bullet proof for maybe less $ than all the stroking and boring of the 6.0. U think its an easy swap? Can't say I've heard anyone doing it. R/

I think its like 492 or 496... that what I heard somewhere. either way, plenty of inches there.
-honestly building an LSX stroker would be cheaper simply because of the huge market out there for these style motors. the new chevy BB motors dont have the aftermarket base that the new SB's do. you can build a very reliable stroked LSX for less than I think you could do an 8.1 for..... just my .02 though...

What he said.

The LSx motors have a FAR greater aftermarket and are cheaper.

I think swaping one of those in will be a bit of a chore. You are better off sticking to an lsx platform considering price and ease of the swap itself. But i would love to see a writeup on what it takes to get one in and dialed. Do It!!!!!
