Default 8.1L head options

i have been doing a lot of research about possible head options. I have noticed that only raylor heads work. acoording to this http://www.highperformancetrucks.com...iew.php?id=162
they used gen5/6 heads? do you have to modify them to work?

i have no idea, theres no telling what all was modified on that truck. as you can imagine, it was a "no cost spared" type thing with it being a concept truck and all.

Sense I've never seen pics of this engine I call Head bolt pattern and water passages are different. Raylar does have a good head that is made by Pro-Filer.

Yeah the 8.1L is a odd ball cathedral port BBC (GEN7) so you need heads that are built like that.

The whipple will run out of steam too quick on a 496 with good flowing heads. Search whippled496, he isnt getting allot of boost out of his with stock heads and cam. Just saying if the engine breathes a decent amount better then stock you wont be able to make much boost to justify it, Unless you can find a way to get the 3.3l compressor to work. If not then check into going turbo.

oh i know, turbos always make more power, I just want something down low, besides the suburba already has the blower on it

I was thinking better heads, headers and custom cam... pound the earth and run darn good for a tow rig. It also has 410 gears and the 4L80E so the tq management can be deleted unlike Whippled 496's allison trans.

Whst kind of number do yo have with that kenne bell. I know some vette guys making retarded amounts of power down low.
