Post 6.0l lq4 help with cam.

Ok guys I need some help choosing a cam for my 2003 silverado 1500hd Lq4. I'm wanting to run a z06 cam. When I find the cam does it need to be year specific? I plan on running 243 heads and z06 springs that I have. Other mods I have are F.A.S.T RT 102mm intake, Pacesetter longtubes, CAI, and exhaust. Or should I run a different cam? I don't plan on doing a stall. And this is my DD. All opinions welcome. I just want to be able to drop a cam in with out any other problems to fix.Tanks in advance

So long as its 3 bolt from a gen 3 engine you should be fine, do believe the pushrods are different length though as i understand the base circles are smaller on the z06 cam.... I would at least upgrade to ls7 or z06 lifters while youre in there... As well as the valve springs

2WD or 4WD? Any nitrous planned? Or is it just a daily driver/play truck?

I would put a 212 218 low lift comp cam in it. that would be perfect.

That's pretty small unless he is going for max low end torque and and towing power. If he wants some top end nuts and a lopey idle I would be bigger by about 10-12 degrees.

I agree that if its going to be a heavy truck with a stock converter something in the 212/218 range is going to be pretty ideal. Going much larger than that is going to translate into poor drivability and the truck feeling sluggish down low. If the OP was open to an aftermarket stall converter I would probably recommend something slightly larger, but not by much. At the end of the day if this is a DD for him a big aggressive camshaft and stock torque converter is definitely not the right move for him.

Thanks
