Default l96 heads

Planned on retaining VVT in my swap but the information on the wiring seems non-existent. If i cant get the wiring down it seems an ls9 cam would be the best budget cam for this 6.0. Thoughts on milling the heads?

Also, thoughts on swapping a set of 243 heads from the old 5.3?

243 heads were used up to 2013. Im pretty sure L96 heads have rectangular ports and 243 heads have cathedral ports and wont interchange.

They will bolt on, but iirc the valves are smaller and combustion chambers bigger on the 243 than the l96, aside from rectangular vs cathedral intake ports..

It's a down hill mod spiral one leads to another. You can almost pick up as much of the SOTP difference by doing a converter as you can doing a cam swap. Better bet is to do both at the same time cam and a converter. The stock converter is usually pretty doggy out of the hole till you get it wound up. The stock converter is just too tight.

Going to try a TB converter.

Any info on cams or bumping compression?

Looking at an ls9 cam or a tsp 220/tsp 224

I just built a l96.. milled 15 of the heads and run a .040 head gasket.. apparently somewhere in the 10.8to1 range
