Default 5.7L Vortec Mods

What have all yall done to your 5.7L Vortecs (96-98)? What are some ways to get some power on a budget? Is it possible to hit the 400hp mark without sprayin, chargin, boring, or strokin and without puttin a major hole in my wallet?

Well as stated in the other thread you could swap intakes, or just due a decent cam with a retune, upgrade the valvesprings (a must), headers,, exhaust, gears (I have 4.56's in mine but I'm running 33" tires), torque converter, supercharger/turbo, forged pistons, nitrous. It's up to you, I'd do a small cam, and a Vortech supercharger and call it a day, well maybe some gears and a converter I had a supercharger, gibson headers, off-road y-pipe with 3in exhaust and a flowmaster 40 series muffler, stock converter, 4.56 gears with a detroit true-trac differential and superior axles and was running 14.5's with 33"s and 6psi (stock cam)

No you either have to go into the motor to highly modify it to get 400rwhp N/A, boost it, or spray a 150 shot with a cam and watch your stock pistons go. Superchargers are really the easiest way to hit the 400rwhp mark, but you still need full supporting mods, trust I'm just over the 400 mark.

The vortec engine isnt capable of 400 RWHP. The intake manifold and injectors cant support it. The injectors will only be able to make about 330 RWHP. You cant upgrade th einjectors in the stock vortec manifold either. Thats why guys have been swapping to the marine manifold with external injectors, or some opt for the RamJet. To make that much power to the rear wheels is gonna take a ton of money!!!

Only 330rwhp? You must mean on N/A motors, I've got the stock injection, not even the updated mini multec II system. I dyno'd on the 16th at 405rwhp, in fact theres a guy with a whippled tahoe on here @8.5psi, stock injection. But yes, a N/A system would be hard to squeeze out more than 330.
