Ok, I am doing a 5.3L rebuild and I had the Crank oil holes chamfered and the rod and main Journals Polished rather then a .010 under cut. How can I determen which Size bearing to use so I don't get the wrong ones. My crank grinder told me I could just use Standard bearings That would not need a .001 bearing. Is there any way to tell or will i just have to get a set of standard and hope they are withen spec???
I Was looking at the Celvite H series with a coating. I was told the coating was good but also they tend to be a little fatter because of the coating and might work better over a standard H series for a crank that has been polished???
Any help/recomendations on what to use would be helpfull.

at first I was going to say to ask whoever did the polishing for you. But if they took 5 thou per side off the journals, then you'll definitely need bearings that are designed for that. .010" is a lot of slop. Go to another machine shop and see what they have to say.
Coated bearings are nice, but a bit overkill on a mild performance rebuild with a stock crank. Now if you were using a high dollar crank, I would highly recommend them.

I am Wondering if the standard size bearing will be just fine or if I will need a .001 bearing.
NOT .010 undersized.

No biggie. If I mic the journals with out having an actual bearing how will I know If I will be withen spec with a standard bearing as far as clearence goes??? I have only done ever really done that with pre assembling and using Plasti Gauge.

I would use standard size bearing if you grinder polished it and told you the crank came out with in spec. On bearing like that, I would rather haven them a little on the loose side then tight. To tight and the will seize and spin a bearing.

Ya, I have been thinking about forced induction lately too! Thats why I was thinking about the coated bearings....
I Just picked up a BBQ special 5.3 over the weekend to add to my collection of stuff.
