Default 5.3 on propane yea even my crawler needs an ls

ok boys im buiding a cherokee rock crawler and i picked up a 99 5.3 today complete with everything but accessories for 200 the only problem is well im sure u know the lifter ticks held good oil pressure ran strong didnt smoke just ticked a little bit
so i also am purchasing a 5.3 all aluminum with 799 heads on it and flat tops

its a cherokee i dont need much power at all so im thinking
bolt it to my th400 that works i got for 50<getting a manual valve body
sale the aluminum block and 799s
take the rotating assembly out of the aluminum 5.3 and install it in the iron block to have the flat tops
shave the 8xx heads a little
buy a cam<any ideals??
carb intake
and a propane kit

propane is high octane 103 so what would be the ideal compression ratio

how do yall think itll work out??

also propane is more efficient and not as harsh on the motor
atomize way better u can ideal way lower than even fuel injection and not stall
and no puddling

so hmmm propane and a dry shot sounds really nice
or try to make a wet kit some how?

If you are going to run propane and it is 103 you have me thinking about running propane in my Samurai. Your post comfuses me, I don't need much power but the you start thanking about a dry shot. I am not sure why you would need nitrous on an offroad vehicle except for ***** and giggles. I can imagine you using it on the trails. I think with the gears and the manual valve body on the tranny the nitrous would make the motor spin fast, too fast I think to navigate an obsticle and shift and spray. As far as a cam I would run something really small for low in torque. It should be an awesome setup. You said you wanted to run a carb intake, the only problem is all the carb intakes are single plane and work best in the upper rpm. Is there no way to use the truck manifold with the propane system? I think it would have the best low end torque out of all the intake possibilites. I have an LS1 that is going in the Samurai and I was going to use the manifold off my truck that I am replacing with the manifold from a TBSS. The truck manifold has a smaller TB and should help the throttle response as well. It should be interesting. Keep us updated on your progress

well thats why i want the nitrous for ***** an giggles and im gonna drive this thing around town ever once in a while considering propane is usually cheaper than gas, get a twin stick and show the honda kids wat a real fwd burnout looks like lol

well that thought did come into mind about the intake but theres no way to use a truck intake so i guess ill sacrifice a few ponys

What are you going to use for ignition control?

Wasn't there some factory propane 6.0L's. What was their propane system like thought they had propanee injectors in the stock location?

Why couldn't you use this http://poweredbypropane.net/products...ion-kit-3.html.

Its a little high but just the ignition controllers or distributor kits are high as well plus a carb intake. This might be cheaper, plus it looks like you can swap back to gas.

I'd rethink using those Iron 5.3 heads from the '99 with the flat top pistons from the all aluminum 5.3; the rise in compression to 9.9 along with the heat retaining properties of the iron heads won't be an optimum combo. Pick up a set of slightly worked 862 aluminum heads and a small torquey cam, that way you don't have to worry so much about detonation, and they will flow better! I know you said you were going to use propane, but 862's aren't that expensive to find.

Only the early 6.0L have iron heads.

Why not keep the 799 for the iron bock 5.3? They are based on the LS6 243's. Great flow and higher compression.
