I by no means have the knowledge of most people on this site, but I think your question is pretty basic... I know when I start on my truck its going to be long tubes-full exhaust, CAI, and a good tune... After that I would say E-fans which you already have, and a 100shot.. Looks like your already planning on going into your tranny which seems to be the largest weak point in our trucks.. HAVE FUN!!! its hard for me to stall on diving into my rig but right now it just isnt practical for me to do it yet...

Well it is nice to have your long term goals set so you know what platform to start with.
For example: If you want 300-350hp to the rear wheels then build your 5.3
If you want 400+ hp to the rear wheels with the 5.3 you will need fi or nos.
If you want 500+ hp to the rear wheels it can be done with the 5.3 just fine but it may be cheaper in the long run to put a 6.0 in to have a
larger platform to start with. You can also get 400+ hp N/A with a 6.0 with fairly simple mods.
This is just an example of what you can do. You will have to determin what you want the end result to be so you know what to start with. It would not
be cheap to build your 5.3 only to find you want more and pull it out in favor of a 6.0 when you could have put a 6.0 in in the first place.
Of course this is just my opinion. It is your truck.

The usual...cam, longtube headers, trans upgrades, higher stall torque converter, gears, etc. So many cam choices depending on what RPM range you plan to run in. I'd do a search here and in the GM Engine Performance Section and you should find a wealth of info and different combos that guys have had good results with.
