5.3 bored to a 4" bore??

Depends on the block. Some are thicker then others. There are a few Rare early blocks that could go to 4.0 bore but it would have to be cast with 4.8/ 5.3 with a 6.0 above it.

If you search around you will find a few threads. Some guys have had issues going to stock 3.898 LS1 bore. Best to have it sonic checked first before having it bored.

+1 on sonic checking the block, some won't even make it at just under 3.9.

Good info about the early blocks, I had no idea that some early blocks were thicker with all 3 engine size markings on them

thats what I am running. Iron 5.3 block 3.905 bore x 4.0 stroke = 383ci.

ok his doing the 5.3 to the 383 11.1cr it should be im building him a set of 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 headers what do u guys think? and he got a set of 5.3 2.5 heads also and he wants to know what came to go with hes looking at the ls/r line up ones a 231/239 .617.624 113 or the 235/243 .621/.624 he has a 4k stall also with 4.30 gears and the fast 102 for it what u guys think let me know thanks.

thats what i told him to do the car maybe see the actually road 100 miles a month if lucky so i told him go bigger lol and thanks guys when everything gets together i make a build **** and pics for u
