to the OP, i myself am shooting for 400rwhp, i have a 2000 silverado 1500 with a 140K LQ4, 799 Heads ported from Scoggin Dickey milled to 59CC, howards cam 218/224 .604 112LSA, Speed Engineering 1 7/8 headers (just ordered their 1 3/4 because i lost a lot of low end torque, made same peak numbers tho) didnt buy them at first because they were back ordered and still are... their Dual X pipe into GTO Corsa Mufflers, NNBS intake Manifold, 90MM holley TB, 4 Inch homemade intake, 4.11s, i put down 372HP and 416 Torque, on a dynocom 2nd gear pull. i dont know if the converter was locked or not. i will be swapping cams to the Tick SNS LS2 stage 1 cam, similar to the one you want, 227/231. im hoping to break at least 380, im not sure what it would take to break 450 to the wheels.

that’s a lot of mods and still at 380 that’s why I’m just gonna supercharge it and then latter on cam it and maybe l92heads.

ARP head bolts are around $130...... there head studs on the other hand are more then double that price.

Most guys on a budget opt for the eBay/Chinese head studs. I haven’t any horror stories yet of any one breaking a stud tho

Matt from "Sloppy Mechanics" uses Alper Motorsports "chinese" stud kits on some of his turbo builds. What ever you get new studs or new bolts remember the outer bolt/stud length changed in the 2004.5 plus engines. The new design outer bolts are the same length as the inner bolts. 99-04 had three different length bolts while 2004.5+ have two different lengths.

Did you get the rear exit system or the dump before the axle? I have the SE 1 3/4 headers with their dual rear exit system about to be installed but concerned about being to loud. Do you have a sound clip with the Corsa's?

That's a little clip of exhaust,

Its custom side exit, used the x pipe that SE sells, really good design. The corsas are loud but have no drone. I've heard the speed engineering mufflers drone a lot.

My tuner said he tunes in 2 different shops, the other shop has a dynojet and said he sees 40 to 45 difference in HP numbers. He said the dynocom he uses reads lower. So my numbers might be higher who knows. Runs pretty good.

Hoping that 227/231 cam puts me at least at 385..

OEM bolts are use once then toss. Studs give a more even clamping force especially good for forced induction motors. Performance studs/bolts have a specific torque spec, instead of the "torque plus angle degrees" used with OEM torque to yield bolts.

Thanks for the clip. Truck sounds good... If the SE mufflers drone me out I'll look toward the Corsa's.

I was just thinking....

Skeet's LQ9 based engine did 480 rwhp IIRC. LQ9 short block, ported LS3 heads, 23x/23x @ .050" cam, all the supporting mods... headers, injectors, TB, etc.

Post #3 he lists mods, weight, etc.
