450 Wheel hp lq4 build
#1
Hey guys I am trying to figure out what to do with my lq4 engine pulled out of a farm truck 111k miles hard farm miles though. I am going to put it in my 02 sierra 1500 ive done some research on getting 450 wheel hp looking to spend no more than 2500 on engine (already have it complete) Looking at doing l92 heads or ported 243s with a texas speed cam 228/232 .600 going to run E85. What heads and intake manifold/ mods in general should I get to hit 450 wheel. (will be daily driver so dont want more than 500hp) Engine had 35 oil pressure at 700 rpm Dont know if I want to rebuild bottem end but if comes out to 2500 total I would. Thanks any info or what to do would be helpful.

450 wheel horsepower will be hard to hit NA on a 6.0 engine size. It needs more cubes to really make that easy.
Either of those head choices will make power. I'd go with a TBSS/NBSS intake as they are great for torque and horsepower and are not stupid expensive like many others that don't make the dollar to horsepower ratio worth it.
You'll want a set on long tubes as well to make it breath.
That oil pressure sounds great, no sense in pulling everything apart if it ran just fine before hand. The while your in there stuff is just going to nickel and dime you to death if that is the type of person you are. If it ain't broke don't **** with is my opinion.

Im very stuck trying to chose between 243s and l92s as I do off-road and tow a 1-3 times a year I have seen a dyno of a 6.0 with l92 heads and air ram making 480 wheels im just stuck atm.

If the 02 Sierra is a 5.3 or 4.8 $2500 is probably attainable... but 450 hp?? If you're swapping from the 4.3 it's gonna eat up your budget real fast. Two things you'll need to add is injectors and a stall converter. The 6.0 injectors duty cycle are already maxed out stock. Those two items are gonna take a big chunk from you budget if you buy new.

Yeah its a 5.3. Converter would go in the tyranny cost. Ive seen a kit for 3000$ that has 550hp 540 toruqe so I dont see how bumping the cost down to 2500$ and hp down to 450ish isn't attainable.

It was crank but that is still pretty good. I found this kit I found that would be in my price range https://paceperformance.com/i-207191...m-hot-cam.html Only would have the buy a ls3 intake most ebay ones come with injectors to just wondering what kinda power this thing would put out? What size injectors should I look for? Would I bet better off buying some l92 heads and all that stuff then getting a custom cam instead of the small one that comes with? Would like long tubes axle dump exhaust but still want this to be my daily driver and want to be able to start in -30 still. How much is a kit for my truck? Kinda like the idea of a super charger what would I have to replace so I don’t blow my engine up?

The silverado kit is $3100. Requires electric fan swap. And sold as a tuner kit. Allowing you the budget to choose how you want to finish up your truck. injectors, tune, and intercooler. We can help you choose if you need help, but I would consult your tuner on what they are familiar with using.
