It also depends to on what kinda usage this motor is gonna see....is it gonna be a street/strip ride?
That 236/242 is a lil on the juicy side for sure........

Try this one for the maximum camshaft I'd stuff into the 5.7L if this truck will be driven on a regular basis. Remember less is more when picking out your camshaft. Changing the valve timing with cams and springs can only get you so far, if later on you need more power look into nitrous or forced induction.

You're looking at a broader torque band instead of 3000-6800. Here you've got at least 1500-6800 with some form of manners at idle.
that cam you posted is smaller than what i have in my stock 5.3. he wants it to idle rough so we arent really worried about the street manners. just wants it to go fast ricky bobby i figured it was a little big but, i found it cheap and thought id get a second opinion before jumping into something worthless. alot of the ls1 guys are running an ms3 cam which is very similar.

I'd prolly go with something in 224-228 range and with a 112 lobe sep it will idle rough and make great power and be plenty streetable.....but youll have to have the converter to back it up,prolly somewhere in the 3200 range....

Or just get a custom grind........

remember what my Z28 sounded like with the TR224 cam? It had a slight choppy idle but was mean as hell under WOT. The 231/237 cams sound really nice. Like a choppy cam but not pro street.
