Such a nice looking truck and then it looks like the intern finished that last bit on the front

You can build your own truck on GMC.com with a 6.2 for around 52, well optioned crew cab SLT and the 10k in incentives brings it to 42. I was super close to doing that but I couldn't stomach the payments after having no car payments in years on any of our cars.

Laura buick/gmc has them cheap, I online shopped them when looking for my truck. Best I can tell they have the incentive figured into their advertised price already. At certain times through the year the dealers run a costco incentive and members get an extra 3k off. But you have to be a member for 6 months.

I ended up buying a used 2014 5.3 truck for 23k. Full optioned out SLT in mint condition and every service record. I really like the $390 payment over the 7xx-800 a month for 5 years.

Mine has high mileage and zero issues. I don't care about mileage if it's been treated right and serviced. Plus I have 20k I saved if it pops a trans and that's about all that would happen the motors etc last damn near forever on the 99 and newer gm trucks. And a low mile used (20k mile) 6L80 trans is $1300 around here and that's better quality than any rebuild.

So no, no regrets at all and tuned they run damn good.

Gorske's 5.3 will be a mid 13 second truck most likely with a couple bolt ons and a stall, it was upper 13's without the stall. Doesn't get much better than that. Picture if it were a 6.2.. It would be close to those tuned ecoboost trucks and last longer.

I don't know about the 8 speed, I'm loving the 6L80 so far

Lemme ask this- what would it take to swap in an L76 block, is that even doable? Something I've had on the back burner a bit..............

Not possible.

Anything half ton 14+ is direct injection and is not considered an LS based engine, they are LT engines. That just the tip of the iceberg on why it couldn't be done.

Hmm- I thought as long as I kept the L83 heads I could use the aforementioned block. Or am I still way off.............

Direct injection motors use specific pistons for the direct injection. I don't know if you could even put the L83 heads on a LS block anyway.
