Default Engine choice revisited LQ4 vs LQ9

I have posted a couple of threads about what I am hoping to get out of my next setup....most of the replies have told me to go with the LQ4 because of the lower compression with boost. But....then I see this thread: https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=345783

Sounds to me like the LQ9 with a good tune is safe up to at least 10psi...which is probably around where I'll be. So...why wouldn't I go with the LQ9 instead of the LQ4?

IMO you arent pushing the envelope so much with lq4 as far as too much CR especially in the hot weather you live in you have to worry about detonation.

I'll probably replace the small Radix intercooler with the larger optional one as well, if that makes any difference.

This is the part that I focused on:

You can push much more boost safely through an LQ4. If I were goin boost, it would definitely be an LQ4.

LQ4. Probably cheaper and easier to find.

normally i'd be all for the LQ9. with you living in a place that feels like you're sitting on the sun, i'd go LQ4...
