The pics are of a new DI turbo MINI with about 25k miles…. catch cans, help but not completely. I really want to get into a 2014 but wonder if this is going to be a issue as it is with most DI engines I have heard of.
Thoughts?

No doubt has crossed my mind as well and also wondering how the DoD cylinders will look with the direct injection.

Thankful it has warranty.

wow, i though only valves on display at gas station cash registers advertising the cleaning ability of their gas actually looked that bad.

the picture is not due to being a DI motors its obviously from neglect idc how low the miles, too much dirt was allowed in that engine and lack of oil changes im sure, plus cylinder head design and porting from the factory these days are very good to help eliminate problems like this. i work inside new motors everyday and i have taken heads off anything from a 5 mile car all the way to a 70k mile car and have never ever seen anything that bad. just saying
