Default New 2014 = Traitor

I just picked up a new 2014 ram big horn hemi qc 4x4 as I needed a white 5 passenger truck for my vehicle allowance at my new job. (I really wanted a new GM 4x4 6.2 but they are a lot more money than the 29k I spent on the ram) I have had it for a week now and the main thing I can say about the truck is that the 8 speed transmission is very nice...it is smooth and always in the correct gear. I honestly can say that the hemi engine it not quite as powerful as my 6.2 and might not be any better than the DI 5.3. This power difference is most obvious once you get at higher speeds. The hemi has a peaky powerband so it feels faster than it really is. I have spent some time on hemiforumz and found that there really are not many ram trucks running good track times with the hemi except for a handfull of rcsb trucks with significant mods.

The ram is getting just over 19mpg overall compared to just over 17mpg in my 2011 silverado in mixed driving.

I plan on running some g tech runs comparing it to my 2011 for my curiousity. I will share them if you guys are interested.

I have raced a few hemi trucks in my 14 rcsb 5.3. The only one to come close was a 2013 rcsb hemi express.

That seems weird to me as I had always thought of the 5.7 Hemi as an engine with a wide and powerful TQ curve. I've never driven one, but I've rode in one and it seemed like it had lots of torque down low.

But, I've never driven any of the new LS motor offerings either so who knows.

5.7 hemi is peakey. My old 5.3 would walk away from a hemi 5.7 down low but they would pull it back at the top of 3rd.

mike ,congrads on the new truck.I cant blame you wanted a GM first,I know youve owned every brand of truck and car and did a lot of high performance cars.So you are not bias and will bring an honest experienced opinions to the table.

It ****'sz me off GM cant bring the same value for 30K.GM should offer the same truck and options for the same money, and be able to buy the truck with a 6.2 with a net difference of 2K more..........GM is wierd right now not offering competitve pricing and will get kicked in the ballz when 015 ford hits.

Im to much of a loyalist and may hang onto my 2010 a lot longer than I want...if GM had deals I would get serious tomorrow, and on top of that i have some survivors guilt and should not be buying new GMs as its stained as gov. motors

I would have felt a lot better about it had they just went BK,and kept our Gov. out of it

CONGRADS ON NEW MOPAR!!!!!!!!!

I took advantage of the 0% financing they have now and traded my 2010 6.2 in on a new LTZ 6.2. Double cab. I put my air raid MIT on it and it made a big difference. Still sounds like the TB is gurgling for air though. Wondering what a larger one would do. Happy so far.
