How to spot a 6.2

I have the 6.2 double cab since i wanted a bigger bed than the crew cab. If i had the choice to get the 6.2 in a regular cab i would have definitely bought that instead. For some dumb reason you can only get the 6.2 in the higher models and no reg cab option.

After days of look for a 6.2. I realized the easiest way to spot them while looking on the internet is to just look at the VIN and look for the 8 letter to be a J.
Truecar.com is the only website that has a search function that WORKS. That allows you to pick a 6.2 as a motor option. But you cant search for older trucks that way for some reason.
I found a 2014 with the 6 speed GMC SLT not to far from me in NC. But I still haven't got a settlement on my totaled Denali.

You can get the 6.5' bed with the crew cab on a half ton since the 2014 body change. Gm sells tons of them here that way. I too think its retarded you need an SLT or LTZ trim to get the 6.2... good thing I won't be buying one again in this lifetime lol. I like loaded cloth which my 17 HD is and will not buy another pleather interior.
