Default 2017 5.3l to 6.2l exhaust......any gains?

5.3l exhaust I think is 3" where the 6.2l version is 3.5".......Are there any gains to be expected from this mod? Sound? Performance?

Doesn't it neck down to ~ 2 3/4" somewhere as well? I need to do something no telling what I'm losing.

I believe the stock 5.3l is a 3" that necks down to 2.5" and the 6.2l is a 3.5" that necks down to a 3"

5.3 goes from (best I can tell) 2.75 to 2.25

6.2 from 3.5 to 3

I just put the 6.2 exhaust on mine but I did it with headers so I don't really have a 5.3 to 6.2 catback only comparison.

As for sound, my 5.3 catback with a magnaflow in it was really quiet, but louder than stock, barely. The 6.2 catback is just as loud as the 5.3 with the magnaflow, maybe the smallest little bit louder?

Edit: Just went to the garage, best I can tell with a tape measure the 5.3 is 2.75 at the front and 2.5 at the rear (outside diameter). Using dial calipers at the shop the other day (which the arms were a hair short for the perfect measurement) the 6.2 is 3.5 and goes down to 3.

You would probably gain a ton from headers and a good catback. If you're on the stock stuff it's gotta be choked pretty bad with the blower. Air in, air out. Either of those is missing a lot is left on the table.

Being around the boost world for a while, exhaust is one of the most critical components for making power.
