Default Any dyno results showing gains with exhaust?

I was jsut wondering if anyone has some back-to-back dyno results or 1/4 mile times showing what gains are available with an exhaust, (either just adding a muffler to a stock system or a cat-back).

If you have results, please let me know what engine you have and what type of exhaust mod(s) you did.

I just don't want to install an exhaust and LOSE power or waste $$$ on an entire system, when just a muffler is needed.

Thanks!

4.8L - (seat of the pants)

Cats - X-pipe - Dual borla's:
I lost a bit of low end but gained more power in the upper RPMS.

A few months later I installed ASM LT Headers and removed the cats: Gained a bit of low end and really noticed the pull from midrage all the way to redline.

LT's and no cats make the truck sound different too.. and smells a little stonger.

All the exhaust tubing is 2.5".

All in all.. a pretty good setup

I dynoed my Tahoe a few years back to test out a cut-out. It was only worth 5-6 rwhp over the stock exhaust. I later added the huge Magnaflow muffler because it's very quiet and completely straight through in design. I don't think the Tahoe/Suburban exhausts are too bad in stock form. The Silverados may be worse (but I doubt it).

Marc: I did see that in a search and I was shocked to see that an already modified truck making 279 @ the wheels only picked up 4.5 hp and 2 lb. ft. of torque with a Borla cat-back!

Whoopee. I guess an exhaust cat-back is more for sound, (and lightening your wallet) than performance.

kwkshift i am in the same boat as you are.. I am looking for something more than sound. I want something that gives me the best peformance on low end as well as top end. From what ive read just about everyone looses a little on low end. I think right now i am leaning towards the corsa cat back..

ridnlow... Beavis and Butthead are great! HAHAHAHAHA. That seems like the one where B&B try to play Robocop and Beavis goes to heaven and meets St. Peter!

Anyway...today's vehicles typically have pretty kickass catbacks. So obtaining more than 10rwhp is going to be pretty tough.
