Default who HAS done a cam swap on a nnbs

i posted this in the internal engine department but i thought i would get more answers here.

i am about to put a cam in my truck and scoggin dickey was tryin to tell me you have to change ALL kinds of bs like lifters and rocker etc since its a VVT motor.....

allen @ nelson performance said all i need is a timing cover assembly from an 05-06 gto and the 3 bolt cam sprocket....

who here HAS done a cam on an 07-08 5.3 that knows what really HAS to be done?

I've got a VVT cam installed. I'm not sure the VVT is that big of a benefit... It probably helps more with the AFM then on all 8 or they would have it the VVT on the Z06.

I'm having oil pressure issues due to valve spring pressure and the VVT. IMHO I'd go with a standard cam and skip the VVT until more testing is done. Supposedly Comp Cams is going to come out with a VVT line soon.

5.3s (if its the truck in your sig) are not VVT only 6.0s and 6.2s. Its just a normal cam swap as in any previous LSx. Only difference on your 5.3 is that it has DOD which is uses 4 lifters that collapse when it goes into 4cyl mode. You have to pull the heads if you wish to replace the lifters...
