Im pretty much set on a Maggie kit for my 6.2L but I see so many people putting Prochargers on there trucks. Is there any advantage to a Procharger? I would think with all that piping they would be harder to install and less effective then a SC mounted on the manifold. Am I wrong? the Procharger costs more too.

 

PC will more then likely make more hp towards mid, peak power. It does however shine even more with gears and a bigger converter. What model TVS are you looking to buy? don't get me wrong they make great power to, will work well on a heaver truck, as they make boost off idle, inturn means tq instantly. Regardless of what you put on it you better make time to upgrade the trans.

 

just going with a TVS1900 Silverado Sierra 6.2L 2011 Magnuson Supercharger - Magnuson Products, LLC all stock I have a 6L80E that should hold up well with just a SC. No racing just street. and maby some day a 30' tow behind camper.

 

Sounds like that will work perfect for what you plan to do with it.

 

Down side of superchargers, root/screw type more importantly is air discharge temps post blower, need an efficient intercooler set up and still prone to heat soak. But the instant boost and lower to mid range torque is very nice

 

Maggie = instant off idle torque, and fantastic low-mid range power, may sacrifice(taper off) on the top end.

ProCharger = stockish bottom end(with a stock converter), good mid range power, and fantastic top end power.

For what you say you're looking for, TVS1900 would be perfect. Set it and forget it, IAT's won't be an issue for you.

I never knew there was a low end lag with centrifugal SC'rs... I may have to alter my thinking & go with a twin screw/top mount.

 

If you keep the max boost fairly low (6-7psi), the low end will be just like stock. It won't start building boost until about 3000 rpm. In a heavy truck, this is a major disadvantage. I had a ProCharger in my TBSS. It worked well in that, but I had a 3400 converter, and it weighed significantly less than a CC 4wd truck. There are pros and cons to both, but in a heavy daily driver truck, I'd go TVS. Yeah, it heat soaks in hot weather, and doesn't provide the peak gains of a centri blower, but the gains in the low to midrange are unbeatable.
