Default Opinions on Yukon 4:56 gearing?

I got, what I believe, is a great deal on regearing my L9H. I can get the Yukon 4.56 setup for an even 1600$ at a local shop. They HIGHLY recommend the Yukon gears. My question is, my tires are only 31", my truck IS 4wd, and I use it strictly for the track and take it out in the city only on perfect weather days. Is 4.56 going to be too much gear when I get into FI? And does anyone have any comments on Yukon gears? Should I look into a trutrac or anything else with this?

Holy shiz $1600 for gears? Does that include the entire rearend Yukon axles a locker and a Bj?

4.56 are a great NA/spray gear especially for a pure track a weekend toy. For a FI build I wouldn't go that steep. Turbo's typically like lower gears (3.42s are a common choice.) however I am of the opinion that our trucks are heavy and need help getting moving. 4.10s(turbo) or 3.73s(supercharger) are the best happy medium for our trucks. A 31" tire is big not huge. However for the love of Pete don't spend $1600 for $200 in parts.

That is OTD. Ooh...trutrac as well!! Forget to add that. This place was actually significantly cheaper than two others I called and they sounded the most knowledgeable.

However, I do plan to go with a TVS2300...I have 3.73's already and was told 4.10 would make very little difference. I really need help getting off the line and was thinking 4.56 would do great launching in 4 hi to help with traction. Should I go for a stall converter first and see how that does?

3.73 is a very good ratio. 4.10s will be barely noticeable. $1600 isn't too bad if you are including gears front and back as well as a truetrac. I was assuming only rear gears. I would do a stall first. A 3000 stall can help you pick up .3 on your 60'. You will really like a stall.

With intentions of running a TVS2300, I suggest you leave the gears alone, add a TruTrac, and then have a nice converter built for the truck.

A good converter will get the truck off the line a lot better than regearing will.

So I'll throw in the truetrac instead of regearing...that will save money to purchase the convertor.

I'd like to go with a Yank convertor, should I call them personally and let them decide what stall would be best?

I always launch in 4hi and could probably use a higher stall than most...I'm thinking 3600+. Any suggestions?

Give yank or circle d a call either one can spec you a good stall. That will be the best way to go.

I don't mean to derail the thread but why would 4.10s be best for a turbocharger and 3.73s be best for a supercharger? Is this with the 4 speed or 6 speed?

This is a 2010...6L80e with 6.2 L9H...from what Dave at Yank Performance says, with 4.10's and a SC with my short 1st gear I would just blow the tires off and it would really hinder my top end speed. I'd imagine a turbo would be a little different if you aren't spooling up off the line, and the 4l80/60 has a longer 1st gear that would need more bottom end...just a thought, I'm no mastermind on this whatsoever!!
