Default Oil Pump question on L94

Newbie question here . Am about to receive my Whipple 2.3L charger, I ordered all the GM parts needed to do the DOD delete, & VVT Delete. Ordered a BTR Cam motion Stage 2 kit, ARP Head studs, and all the parts needed to complete the deletes.

Ordered a Melling 10355HV, Are there any Disadvantages or Advantages to using this Oil Pump with my setup? Is it too much Oil Pump for my build?

‘13 L94 6.2L w/ CAI, Kooks Long Tubes w/ green cats, Corsa Cat back. Just installed the Circle D 3000-3200 Torque Converter last week, haven’t ordered my 40K TruCool yet. Want to see how much room i have after the heat exchanger is installled.

Again guys Thanks for all the help in advanced.

Completely unnecessary. Your pump (12710304) is the equivalent of the M365. The M355 has the same larger gerators pumping 1/3 more volume per revolution compared with the pump used on the iron block motors. The 355s pressure is 43 psi versus 33 psi which is plenty adequate for a street engine.

But can the Melling 10355HV be used?
Am i going to have an issue using it?
I already purchased it and has already been delivered, i can try to return if its going to give me an issue. But if i can use it, i might as well just use it since i already have it on hand.

Sure you can use it. Your going to have a fair amount of pressure and plenty of volume.
I use the 10355 on all the aluminum blocks. Never used the 10355HV tho.

Yep, as RDF1 says you can use it. It will cost a few more horsepower to run but won't hurt anything.

If your trying to compress the oil with the oil pump, that takes energy. The more you try to compress and move the more energy it takes.
really high volume and high pressure pump takes more energy than a standard volume standard pressure pump.
