Default oil leak on my 08

Ok...I'm at the point where I have no idea what could have happened to my truck. I have changed the oil on all of my trucks. I've never had this problem before. I have ONLY 20936 miles on my truck!!!!!!!! Wth could be leaking? Its between the oil pan and tranmission. Its even by the plastic cover under the starter. I cleaned it all off the last time I changed the oil, an I haven't even put 800 miles on the truck since the last oil change. I have used royal purple 5w30 everytime I've changed the oil. Its at the dealership now they should be looking at it tomorrow. I'm just worried its a rear seal or something. I'd like to see how much extra it would be to put in a 6.0L instead of my 5.3L.
The only thing done is a custom tune, a magnaflow muffler.
Thanks for any input.

Rear Main seal most likely. From what I have read it's kinda common on the GMT900's. That and the Crank position sensor seal along with the steering rack. Pop the inspection cover on the bellhousing and you should be able to see up in there.

I did, I don't see any oil on the flywheel. I dunno wth to do. I'd like my truck back...why is it such a hassle??? I miss my 01 :'(
You think I could get the motor swapped for a 6.0 for a small fee...1500..2000...
2500 lmao

Might just be you pan; Leaks are not uncommon on those trucks for some reason. I resealed 2 transmission pump wedge seals last week. I wouldn't stress over it.

I noticed a greasy type oil leak on my 08. Cleaned it off last week when I changed the oil. It appeared to be tackey like assembly lube. Still should not have been there. Yours sounds like rear main. Keep up posted!

That's what I thought it would have been in the beginning, so I didn't worry about it. It happened within the last 6k miles. I'm not stressed, its just crap that I'm having to work on a brand new truck already. If I knew this I woulda kept the 01 an built my 370 like I wanted. Oh well, imma talk to the guy and see how much it'd be to swap in a 6.0

Bro your about the 4th or 5th one I've heard having rear main problems. if you looked in the starter hole on the engine side of the flexplate you might have seen some, popping the conver on the bottom of the trans probably won't show you much. I know how bad that's gotta suck with so few miles on that thing.

And the even worse part is, unless you are in GOOOOOOD with your dealer, I doubt you are going to get a 6L out of it even for a price... Those will look at you like yove got a pecker growing out of your forehead when you mention it because a lot of them will tell you it "it can't be done" or "that motor only comes in blah blah blah" just be prepared for that.

And if they will, shoot for the 6.2L

It took 4 trips to 2 different dealers to get my rear seal oil leak fixed. Both said there was not a leak at all. I had to crawl under the truck in front of the service manager to wipe the oil off the bottom of the engine and then smear the oil on the service counter to get it fixed.
