Default not what i was really expecting

so yesterday i was following a buddy to his house and we ran our trucks on a strip of road that opened up to 4 lanes for a mile or so. the race was from about a 30 mph role till about 90 i would say but i didnt do as well as i would have liked concidering whats done to the two trucks, i was only able to put his front bumper at the back doors. mines a 07 crew with corsa cat back, volant intake and tb spacer and intune programer and the trans has the vette servo put in. my buddies is a 08 extended cab with just flowmasters and bone stock. both trucks have 3.42 gears 5.3l with 4l60e trans only difference is the cab configuration and wheels, i have denali 20's and he has the aluminum 17's but both have the same tire height. i dont know if thats about normal with them mods or there is a that big of a weight difference between the two trucks. im stumped bc i was at least looking for a full truck length at least

By in tune programmer do you mean a hand held setup??

Get rid of the TB spacer and get a real tune and that truck will react a whole lot differently

you're heavier and have more mass to pull with those 20" wheels. the results seem about right. lose that throttle body spacer, get a real tune and toss on some 17" wheels and leave him 1 truck behind.

it could be a few things..
my buddy had a 05ish RCSB 2wd with a diablo predator and 3.73s vs my ECSB with 5.3 and 3.42s and a custom tune.. his best was 15.0 vs my 14.7s

i believe a good tune goes a long ways...

A "real" tune will make your truck a whole new beast. Changing tcm will be the main difference.

sorry if I'm jacking the thread...

I've heard a TB spacer doesn't really do anything for performance ...

but do they hurt anything gain-wise having one?

Like said above get a real tune, and get some smaller wheels, and the results will be different.

Personally I could tell a HUGE difference going from 22's to aluminum 17's

well i am thinking about getting rid of the programmer for a custom tune but i dont want to lose the ability to put the factory tune back in if i got warranty issues bc that would have been a waste of money for a new warranty when they dropped in the new motor lol. i dont know exactly how all these tuners do their tuning but i got to be able to pull it if i have issues and need to take it in. as for how the two trucks stacked up i figured the wheels and maybe cab setup had some to due with it. i just expected to pull a little harder on him than what i did. i dont plan on making it anything faster...well maybe a little bit more. i think a set of shorty headers and a underdrive pulley with a new tune would wake it up enough to satisfy me and be done with it. i dont want to spend to much more on it bc i got a ls powered foxbody to start working on haha
