Default Mpg

Really considering getting a tune, need a little help from you guys. Ok so I get about 18.5 to 19 mpg now on highway with the dod on, I was wondering would I get about the same if I got it tuned with the DOD delete and TM removed. I'm looking to get a little more pep out of her at WOT but be nice and calm at slower speeds. Oh yeah I have the 5.3. Thanks

I got mine tuned and have the 4L60E and I've got a lot more pep and still pulled 20mpg during my trip from cali to nc with 22" wheels. The last time I did the trip I did take the wheels off, and I got between 21-23. It depends on how they tune it. You can also get two different tunes by using your tow/haul button. Just a thought.

That's good to know that I can get 2 tunes cause I pull a 16 foot trailer with lawn equipment and other stuff so I would love to keep it where I can still tow stuff.

If you want to see everything you can change, you can download the efi live program to play around with it. It has like 4 different type setups you can play with and change stuff on. You can tune the standard drive, tow/haul, and cruise control. Just go to www.efilive.com and you'll see where to download it.

I tuned my Trans and removed all TM and I already notices a whole L/100km...or 1.4 MPG better...just with Trans tuning.

Assume 3.42 rear gear 4l60e or 6spd ? What speed are you driving at when you get that mileage ?? ........

Tune will help some 1-2 mpg at speeds 65-70 over that dont expect too much better ......also yes you can get a different tune in Tow/ Haul but it only controls trans function.......T/H .... engine tune will be the same no matter what trans mode you in

I don't blame you. I got 3 mpg with an efi live tune that I got from the owner of Diesel Addiction. He is really good. He also tuned my boy's Denali with the LQ4 and he got 2mpg with 24s on it.

Also, being as though you're in LA, it may be worth it to head west and let Flacko tune it in Dallas. I hear he's among the BEST. My truck is in Dallas right now so he can do his thing.
