I have not seen any failures in my service dept thus far. I can also tell you that the part number for an LS2 and LS3 chain are the same in my catalog and many of the LS1 guys use them as an upgrade on mild builds. After reading the thread you linked I got the impression there was more to it than just a timing chain. Most of those guys were running road races and a underdrive balancer. I'm new to this forum so I don't know how much of this info you're already aware of, but I haven't heard of any issues here.

that rights pure luck!!! i race dirt late models and modifieds, we prolly spent around 20,000 on an all aluminum 358 motor, well ran fine for bout 3 races then boom, everything new no used parts and put together buy the same person the same way he did the 370 motor thats a season old and still kickn.. no explaination for it just luck like you said! now it wasnt a timing chain that broke but same idea, eventually everything will break just depends on how long before it does!! he** idk how but my uncle has a 377 motor with a 80's model sbc that has been running and not refreshed ever and it was built in 2001 and we still give that motor all its got, were trying to get it to blow up!!

off the side note there if your worried bout it i would upgrade anyway if you have the money to! couldnt hurt but then again there not 100% bullet proof either.. good luck man!

I would blame the underdrive pulley and its influence on the harmonics of the chain, rather than the chain being inherently weak.

Upgrade to the IWIS German made single chain and NEVER look back. To my knowledge no one has ever broken one. They run these in the C5R for 24hrs at LeMans and Katech sells them. Im running the model down IWIS which is still a VERY sweet chain but you can get the one Im running at SDPC for $45.00

You can actually see the quality if you see one in person and how amazingly smooth and precise it is. Its like butterrrrrrrrrr LOL

The problem lies with the harmonics at lower rpms as it puts more strain on the links. That's why you see the geniv motors with chain dampers in them. The asp pulley yhose motors using are known to cause issues
