Default light bulb help

alright guys, i'm not real educated on this light bulb stuff so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

i have an 09 sierra and i am looking for direct bulb replacements for my high beams, low beams, and my fog lights. i want a slight blue tint to them (maybe 6000k or 8000k). i have looked on ebay but there are so many kinds and brands that i am just confused. can someone point me in the direction of the best brand (or a very dependable brand)? would also like them all to be the same brand so that they match.

Sylvania Silverstars are 4000K and the Ultras are 4100K. Those are about the only halogens I'd recommend but even those I've read are prone to burning out prematurely.

If you go with any off brand, or specialty "xenon" halogen replacement you're going to be replacing them often, which is a pain in the **** on our trucks.

I had blue-tinted "xenon" bulbs for a while and burnt about one a month with very little driving...the light output also sucked.

I now have HIDs and couldn't be happier.

The Denalis should have the same bulbs as the rest of the GMT900 lineup, for 2008 these are the bulbs that sylvania had that could fit the Denali:

Low beam headlamp
H11
H11ST Silverstar: The brighter and whiter light. Up to 35% brighter, up to 30% more downroad visibility and up to 35% more sideroad visibility.
H11XV XtraVision: The brighter light for upgraded performance. Up to 30% brighter light and up to 25% more downroad visibility.
So if he bought the truck new, one of those three are likely to have been installed from the factory. Easiest way to find out is to take the bulb out of his and read the serial number if you wanted the same look.

Look at DDm Tuning 6K's they have a lifetime warranty and extra set of bulbs are just $16. Thats what I have in my wifes Benz and they are thin and affordable.

no, sorry for the misunderstanding, he bought the truck used. he looked at it today and found that they are actually hid's but couldn't find the brightness on them anywhere.

i have decided to go with hid's but still don't know what lumen to pick

6000K is pretty standard for people who retrofit HIDs, it's what I have in lows and fogs and I'm happy with them. White with a hint of blue, which is really noticeable when you see it coming down the road.

Here's a chart that shows the different colour temps:

Just be aware that the higher you go in Kelvin rating, the lower the actual usable light output...So 8000K is going to have less lumens than 4300K...Take a drive in his truck at night and see if there's enough light output.

5000 or 6000K are going to be your best bets.

ddm do have good kits man. $40 and been going for a year with no problems. Cheap and lifetime warranty...why not get them? 6000k are what your looking for if you do go with ddm.

Fog light bulbs are H16 9009. I have only found one aftermarket source. Check ebay or Summit Racing.
