How to get that 5" front drop?
#1
Hey guys and gals,i know many of you are using different combinations to get your 4-6.5 front lowering. On my 02 silverado i used 4" front arms and 1" spring and it gave me a sweet 5".I do live in Upstate,ny=pothole heaven. So with this new setup on the nnbs how would i achieve the 5" cause anything lower than that it will only be a show truck due to not being able to drive the damn thing.I see there are lower arms, that are 2" after that to get 5" im lost. Here is a pic of my old one...Thanx in advance.

Well I have the drop spindles with the lowering spring to put me at 4", I'd guess you can use the drop spindles with DJM lowering arms and just a 1"-2" drop coil that way you can run the front at 5" and if you later decided you don't drive it and want to show it, take the spacer out and make it a 6". I'm not all knowing on lowered trucks, this is a new ballgame to me but I'd guess that's the way to get there. What size tires are you going to be running?

First off, the NNBS sits WAY higher than previous models did stock. A 4/6 on the NNBS looks about like a stock NBS (_almost_!). 5" in the front on a NNBS most likely will not align unless you use a lowered control arm of some type. I have the McGaughys 4/7 (or whatever kit), with a partial coil cut and it sits right at 5.5" lower than stock, and the front will not align, it's still out -2degrees one one side, and -1.8 on the other.
There was a thread somewhere (gmfullsize.com maybe?) that had a dude use the stock coil/strut, used a drop spindle and the DJM upper and lower control arm combo for 6" of drop. Although I've always been told not to use a drop spindle AND a control arm, the only negative I can think of against using a drop spindle and lowered control arms would be that you would most likely have to use large diameter wheels (and possibly more bump-steer than stock)...
