Thumbs down Guess the saying "Like a rock".........

Applies to me because a rock for sure can be broken. Was in a mild accident with my truck and it was totalled out from the weak *** lower control arm mounts. Front most bolt hole was ovaled out of round and since technically that's the frame, my truck was totalled. Chevy needs to get with the program. Both Ford and Mopar have much beefier front suspension setups than Chevy does. If I would have known how weak the frame is around that area, I would have avoided this truck like the black plague. The control arm mount consists of a stamped steel bucket looking piece that's welded to the frame. No support for it and made of very thin material. Ford has thick *** metal in theirs as well as Mopar and lots of reinforcement for both. I want a 6.2L but can't stomach the glaring obvious weakness in the suspension/frame now........ What's a gearhead to do??

A good tech can repair the frame. It can happen to any make. Get the 6.2 and don't look back. I do performance upgrades to all makes. The ls engine are the easiest of them all.

You can go get bent chump. Not my fault GM has a **** poor front suspension setup. Damn shame in this day and age, you can't get a brand new GM truck besides maybe a 3/4 ton or bigger that has some meat in the front suspension. I have pictures of all 3 trucks lower control arm mounts and you can plainly see how weak the GM design is. Quite pathetic really for a 31k truck.

Here's the difference between the 3. First 2 are of my truck, next 2 are Ford and Mopar respectively.

Buy a ford or dodge then. You're preaching to a bunch of chevy guys about how great ford and dodge are..

GM has awesome engines, weaksauce suspension components. Ford finally has some good engines to go with the strong frames. Mopar has a good chassis too, just so-so performance goods.

I hit a 4" ******* curb. That's what caused the damage. I've hit a 6" curb doing a hair over 50 mph in an older '96 Chevy and all it did was bent wheel, tweaked spindle and outer tie rod. Frame or control arm was perfectly fine. Just really pisses me off that it was taken out by something so small.
