E85 - What does my non-FF truck need
#3
Psh, like you would know.
Area47 has my non-flex running on corn juice, his truck is as well.
If you have a nearly stock truck then I think it's only a tune away. Get into some mods you need to look into injectors, serious mods will have you searching for a fuel pump.

probably not an issue, but i thought i'd ask:
are the fuel lines the same for flex-fuel and non-flex? not the hard lines, but the soft hoses?
i know older cars have issues with the E85 eating the hoses. i bet gm just puts in a different tune, pump, and injectors, but who knows?

I'm not sure GM even puts in a different pump. Might just be the injectors and the modification so that the computer will alter fueling based on fuel trims to determine ethanol content.

I suspect that the alcohol detection doesn't even function. We have e10 here pretty much year round but my command AF was always 14.68 when not in PE. Of course, I changed it to 14.10 a little while ago to get the correct ratio.

Factory flex trucks definitely get a different pump and injectors, and the tune to compensate. Everything else is likely the same though.
